Liam completed his medical training at the university of Newcastle and intensive care training locally at the Canberra hospital. During his training he took up a PhD with the Critical Care Research Group in Brisbane working on a large animal model of sepsis resuscitation. His main research interest has been fluid resuscitation in sepsis and his research has helped highlight areas where it may be ineffective or harmful. He remains interested in the basic science aspect of medicine and helps locally with the college of intensive care medicine primary examination teaching. When not at work he enjoys spending as much time outdoors in beautiful canberra with his family.
