Frank van Haren
Professor Frank van Haren completed his dual specialist training as Physician and Intensive Care Specialist in Nijmegen, The Netherlands in 2000. He has worked as an Intensive Care Specialist in large teaching hospitals in the Netherlands and lectured for the Dutch National Intensive Care training programme on topics such as sepsis, nutritional therapy, and ethics.
From 2005 he worked in the Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand, before moving to Canberra, Australia in 2011.
Professor van Haren has a strong international research profile. He received a PhD from the University of Nijmegen (Netherlands) and has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers. He co-authored work published in the top journals NEJM, JAMA and Lancet. Some of his work has been translated into policy and guidelines, and resulted in direct improvements in clinical practice and patients' outcomes.
Because of his expertise and standing, he is frequently invited as expert or keynote speaker at international scientific meetings. He also receives regular invitations to contribute expert editorials and review articles to scientific literature. He is invited reviewer for 12 medical journals, including the British Medical Journal and Critical Care Medicine.
